What we were up against
BinSmart’s website required a strong local and service-based SEO strategy to compete for highly competitive skip bin and waste management searches across Melbourne and Victoria. One of the main challenges was targeting a large number of location-based keywords and service areas, while keeping the website structure clear and avoiding keyword overlap between different location pages. The website also offered multiple services, including residential skip bins, commercial bins, trade waste, asbestos disposal, and recycling, which required proper keyword mapping and page optimization. Another challenge was improving the visibility of individual service and location pages for relevant local searches. With many suburbs being targeted, each page needed unique, useful, and locally relevant content rather than repetitive location-based copy. Technical SEO, internal linking, meta tags, website structure, crawlability, and overall on-page optimization also needed attention to create a stronger foundation for organic growth.
Our strategic approach
I implemented a comprehensive Local SEO and service-based SEO strategy to improve BinSmart’s visibility across Melbourne and other targeted locations in Australia. A major part of the strategy was creating and optimizing dedicated location pages for each target service area, allowing the website to target suburb- and location-specific searches such as skip bin hire and waste management services in individual areas. Each location page was optimized with unique, locally relevant content, targeted keywords, optimized meta titles and descriptions, internal links, and clear service information to improve local search relevance without creating repetitive content. Alongside location-based SEO, I optimized the website’s service pages, product/service keywords, headings, URLs, images, and on-page content to target high-intent searches. I also improved the website’s internal linking structure by connecting relevant service and location pages, helping both users and search engines navigate the website more effectively. Technical SEO improvements were carried out to support crawlability, indexing, website architecture, sitemap, and overall site health. To strengthen BinSmart’s local authority, the strategy also included Google Business Profile optimization, local citations, NAP consistency, local keyword targeting, location-based content, and relevant backlink building. Off-page SEO activities such as quality link building and relevant local placements were used to support the authority of the location and service pages. Together, these strategies created a scalable local SEO structure designed to improve rankings for targeted Australian searches, increase organic visibility, and generate more relevant local leads.
